Description: The computation of jitter and latency for a single frame class having point to point connection is quite straightforward and very much attainable using existing analysis/sniffing tools such as Wireshark. However considering a communication protocol such as TTEthernet having interleaved frames of dif-ferent classes, the complexity of analysing such frames is thereby elevated. Also for purposes such as validating this network protocol, it is important to properly analyse each individual packets. This would make it possible to identify failures if any and validate the implemented fault tolerant mecha-nism. The final goal is attaining a tool that would be used to produce data for the dependability evalu-ation of TTEthernet.

Task Objectives
Solution Since packet capturing are already accomplished by tools such as Wireshark. A post processing ap-proach is utilized to use the output from Wireshark to perform the following task. • Classify the packets for all traffic classes • Map the sent to the receive data • Compute latency and jitter. • Compute lost packets etc.

Desired Skills
  • 1. Desirable would be a student in computer science /electrical/mechatronics student. 2. Should have programming skills (

  • C/C++, Java, etc.)

  • 3. Knowledge in object oriented programming.
